julie

Julie started her beauty education at Marvel (the beauty school, not super hero academy) in 2006. This opened her eyes to the many facets within the beauty industry. She then took the makeup program at Blanche MacDonald in 2008, and sculpted nail art by En Vogue Nails in 2008. She started hair at John Casablanca in 2010, and the rest is history. Julie likes to keep her craft fresh by taking classes from Aveda, Vidal Sassoon, and Bumble and bumble.

Julie can do it all! Whether you are looking for a makeover or just a trim, Julie is great at a variety of styles, including pixie cuts, textured hair, soft subtle layers, precision, razor cuts, and fine to thick hair. She loves doing natural-looking highlights, and helping you cover, blend, or embrace those greys!

You will find Julie in the salon Wednesdays through Saturdays chatting about great restaurants, road trips in the Winnebago, and her cute little dog Chad.

gretchen

***Gretchen is currently on extended maternity leave and not accepting appointments***

Gretchen started working in a salon in 2003, and quickly discovered a keen interest in the world of hair colour. Taking classes to hone her skills in colour, Gretchen has spent almost 20 years specializing in the art of hair colouring. She moved to Vancouver in 2005, and was quickly hired by the Aveda Academy. With brief thoughts of pursuing an educator role at Aveda, Gretchen knew that her love for the work was in being behind the chair. She has worked at salons in downtown Vancouver ever since.

Gretchen excels at perfectly placed foils, and loves doing natural highlights, grey blending, fashion colours, and perms. She is loving that more and more people are embracing their natural texture. And don't worry - if you don’t happen to have it naturally, Gretchen's perms make no one the wiser! Turns out perms aren’t just for the ‘80s!

You will find Gretchen in the salon Tuesday, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays chatting mostly about her two dogs, Frankie and Johnny, the garden, or being out in nature.
